'The House of the Spirits' Cast: Meet the Actors Behind the Amazon Mini Series

Isabel Allende’s debut novel, The House of the Spirits, has seen several adaptations over the years. But for the first time since the book was published, there will be a Spanish-language series. And it is also the first TV adaptation. While Eva Longoria, who is an executive producer of the series, could not star due to scheduling issues, the reins have been handed to a stellar cast.

And the stars who will lead the series are worth taking a look at before The House of the Spirits arrives on screen.

Nicole Wallace as Clara del Valle (Young): The Spanish actress has previously starred in My Fault and Your Fault.

Dolores Fonzi Clara del Valle (Adult): Many might know her from the crime movie, Belén.

Maribel Verdú as Tránsito Soto: She is known for several films, including Pan's Labyrinth and Golden Balls.

This makes up the cast of the series that is set to arrive on Amazon Prime Video on April 29, 2026. The first three episodes will premiere on that day, with the remaining five episodes following weekly. But until the series arrives, fans can look back at the famous film adaptation of the novel starring Meryl Streep.

Long before the TV series, a film adaptation of the novel was made in 1993 with the same name, starring several notable names from Hollywood. Talented actress, Meryl Streep, Grace Gummer, Glenn Close, Jeremy Irons, and Winona Ryder were part of the cast. The author of the novel recently commented that the movie needed big names at the time to attract attention, while audiences were also not used to subtitles. 

“When The House of the Spirits was made into a film in 1993, people were not used to subtitles; all successful major films had to be in English and with well-known stars,” she said in an interview with Elle.

She called the film brilliant but added that it did not feel Latin American in its portrayal. However, the new series on Amazon Prime Video is being hailed as an “authentic” adaptation of the novel by many, including executive producer Eva Longoria. With a new cast and the author’s backing, expectations for the series are high.
