Dylan Douglas is finally stepping out of his famous family’s shadow and onto the big screen. The eldest child of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, he grew up surrounded by Hollywood royalty, including his legendary grandfather, Kirk Douglas. After graduating from Brown University with a degree in political science in 2022, Dylan is now making his feature-film debut in The Hit on Hitler: Mobsters vs. Nazis.

With a famous surname and a wartime thriller marking his arrival, Dylan Douglas is entering Hollywood through a particularly dramatic door.

The Hit on Hitler: Mobsters vs. Nazis release date

There is no release date on the calendar just yet for The Hit on Hitler: Mobsters vs. Nazis, Dylan Douglas’ first feature film, but the project is moving closer to finding its audience. Currently in post-production, the historical thriller secured international distribution representation through Bleiberg Entertainment in October 2026. The company is taking the film to the American Film Market in Los Angeles in November to court global buyers.

Directed by Danny A. Abeckaser and written by Kosta Kondilopoulos, the film is still working toward its eventual release. Filmed in Budapest, Hungary, the wartime thriller needs worldwide distribution plans to take shape before audiences can mark their calendars. But what exactly is Dylan Douglas getting into? The plot sets the stage for his cinematic debut.

What is The Hit on Hitler: Mobsters vs. Nazis about?

Hitler has a problem, and this time, it is not the usual army marching toward Berlin. Inspired by extraordinary true events from the 1930s, The Hit on Hitler: Mobsters vs. Nazis follows American Jewish mobsters who refuse to watch fascism spread without a fight. Their unlikely champion is Benny Lipman, a young gangster who initially takes his opposition to rallies straight to the streets.

But fists can only accomplish so much, and Benny soon devises a plan with considerably higher stakes: infiltrate Nazi Germany and assassinate Adolf Hitler. His scheme involves drawing the dictator into an art gallery, a gambit ambitious enough to require financial support from his mafia superiors. Dylan Douglas takes on the story's central role, but which other actors are joining this gangster-meets-war thriller?

The Hit on Hitler: Mobsters vs. Nazis cast

Dylan Douglas may be making his feature-film debut, but he is not carrying The Hit on Hitler: Mobsters vs. Nazis alone. The young actor plays Benny Lipman in his younger years, while veteran Scream star David Arquette takes over as the older version of the gangster. Together, they portray the central figure behind the film’s daring historical assassination plot.

Director Danny A. Abeckaser also steps in front of the camera as Meyer Lansky, the legendary Jewish-American mob boss who becomes part of the story. The supporting ensemble includes Harry Goodwins, Lorenzo Antonucci, Johnny Abrahams, Jeremy Luke, Greg Finley, Graham Sibley, Sharon Azrieli, Lexi Ephron, and Aki Avni. With a promising cast, an audacious premise, and a blend of gangster drama and wartime intrigue, the film looks like an intriguing addition to the historical thriller genre, and as entertaining as Michael Douglas' feud with Paul Verhoeven.
