The wait of 20 years results in a payout worth $20M for the cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2. The Devil Wears Prada, a 2006 film directed by David Frankel, was based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel of the same name. With Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci in the key roles, the film made an incredible $326 million on a $35 million budget. The same love is reflected in its sequel’s box office numbers, which have already surpassed $300M.

And as a result of this expected but phenomenal theatrical run, the star cast has also benefited in their overall earnings from the movie.

As reported by Variety, a number of sources inform how much the triad of starring ladies (Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt) made to return after 20 years, as the follow-up to the iconic fashion movie sped past the $300M milestone at the box office worldwide. And this was all thanks to the legendary Meryl Streep, who negotiated not only for herself but for her fellow co-stars in a way that they are all now looking at cashing in over $20M each from the movie.

For the makers and the distributor, 20th Century Studios, Streep, who plays the formidable magazine editor Miranda Priestly once more, was undoubtedly the most important element for the film, without whom the entire project would be meaningless. According to four sources who talked to Variety, they made an offer that was commensurate with Streep's reputation and long-term market value.

The 21-time Oscar nominee reportedly made $12.5 million for the David Frankel-directed sequel, way bigger than other cast salaries. But she did not stop there. In the negotiation session, Streep allegedly expressed her admiration for her co-stars - Hathaway and Blunt - by getting them the same deal as hers.

But besides that, all three got substantial box office bonuses, which will be given as the sequel continues to surpass predetermined box office benchmarks. According to two sources, if the sequel continues to draw large crowds, each star might make more than $20 million.

As mentioned earlier, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has already surpassed the lifetime earnings of its predecessor in the first week of its release. With almost $42 million apiece, the sequel's second weekend is currently tied for the top spot in North America with New Line's Mortal Kombat II. This duel will continue until Mother's Day.
