The mystery of the missing cameo of Sydney Sweeney

According to Entertainment Weekly, Sydney Sweeney filmed a specific sequence intended to appear near the beginning of the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada. As per the reports, the scene featured Sweeney playing herself as a celebrity client being dressed by Emily Blunt’s character. This moment was meant to establish the new professional standing of Emily Charlton at the fashion house Dior.

The production team ultimately decided to remove the three-minute segment because it did not align with the structural flow of the sequence. While a source explained that this was a difficult creative decision, the team remained grateful for her participation.

The plot now focuses on Andy Sachs reuniting with her former Runway colleagues to save the magazine from a volatile media landscape. Without the extra footage, the transition to the Dior offices moved more quickly to the primary reunion of the main cast. Consequently, the cinematic catwalk proceeded without the presence of the star who had originally sparked so much excitement.

Her previous performances and real-world style influence proved she was a natural fit for the franchise.

Why Sydney Sweeney matched the fashion world

Despite the cut scene, Sydney Sweeney’s portfolio demonstrated why she belonged in the competitive atmosphere of a fashion magazine. In The White Lotus, she portrayed a sardonic, image-conscious student who expertly navigated complex social power dynamics. This sharp wit mirrored the personality required to survive under the demanding gaze of a boss like Miranda Priestly.

Furthermore, her role in Euphoria showcased a character deeply concerned with external validation and a curated image. This vulnerability perfectly reflected the high-pressure expectations often seen in assistant positions within the industry. Additionally, her ambitious drive in the thriller Nocturne highlighted a win-at-all-costs mentality that defined many characters in the original film.
