What if your friendly neighbors next door were hiding something? That unsettling question is at the heart of Peacock’s new dark comedy, The Burbs. What appears to be the safest, picture-perfect suburban neighborhood slowly begins to feel like a place with secrets and dangers, and that is when the fun and horror begin. Leaning into that eerie tension, the series is a reimagining of a 1989 cult classic and is set to arrive this year.

Produced by Seth MacFarlane and Brian Grazer, The Burbs has an impressive cast led by Emmy-winning actress Keke Palmer. She is also an executive producer for the series. While Palmer plays Samira, Jack Whitehall will be playing the role of her character's husband, Rob.

The cast also includes Julia Duffy, Chad Lindberg, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, Kapil Talwalkar, Kathleen Kenny, Justin Kirk, Evan Shafran, Haley Joel Osment, Danielle Kennedy, Max Carver, and more. 

And much like the powerhouse cast, the series has quite an impressive premise.

The plot of the series will not be hard to guess for those who have watched the 1989 film of the same name starring Tom Hanks. However, this version shifts the story to modern-day suburbia and follows a young couple, Samira and Rob, who relocate to Rob's childhood home. Everything seems perfect at first, but things soon start to feel off when mysterious new neighbors move in across the street.

Their arrival stirs up old secrets, hidden threats, and long-buried tensions, revealing that this quiet neighborhood is not as peaceful as it seems. But exactly what is lurking beneath the surface will only be revealed when the show premieres this month. So, when can fans expect the new series?

A first look at The Burbs has already been revealed by Peacock, leaving fans excited for the string of horrors and laughs to begin. As for the release date, the series is set to arrive on February 8, 2026, on Peacock. The upcoming comedy series will have eight episodes, all of which will be released on the same day on the streaming platform.
