Ever since The Boys first exploded onto screens, fate has constantly dangled over every character like a ticking death sentence. And now, as the franchise finally took its goodbye bow on May 20, Season 5 still managed to hand a few characters like Hughie, Starlight, and Mother's Milk the peace they had been chasing for years, while destroying the likes of Kimiko, Ryan, and Ashley in the process. The finale left no crumbs either, pushing the chaos even further with sudden betrayals, shocking flips, and brutal twists becoming the very soul of its final chapter.

Here are the 3 characters who the franchise finally handed a breath of relief, while brutally stealing every last bit of peace from 3 others.

While the internet still refuses to leave a single corner untouched by The Boys finale headlines, the first name on the happy ending card ultimately belonged to Hughie Campbell after saving Annie from the deadly Supe-k****** virus and watching Homelander fall for good. Starlight, too, finally tasted happiness, escaping the fear and corruption that had haunted her since Season 1. Meanwhile, Mother's Milk received one of the rarest victories in the franchise, reuniting with his family and rebuilding the life that chaos kept tearing apart.

But the darkness that once consumed the rest of them seemed to completely wipe away every last trace of happiness by the finale. Kimiko Miyashiro survived the war physically, but losing Frenchie ultimately became the cruelest wound of her entire journey after finally finding someone who truly understood her. Ryan Butcher, on the other hand, was left carrying perhaps the most heartbreaking fate of all after losing both Butcher and Homelander, alongside the emotional scars tied to his mother, Becca. Meanwhile, Ashley Barrett watched everything she spent years chasing collapse around her, as the woman obsessed with power and control ultimately ended up losing both after being voted out of the presidency.

And now, with the finale splitting the fandom between relief and heartbreak, many are already asking whether The Boys could still return for one more round of chaos.

Will there be The Boys season 6?

While many fans hoped The Boys could somehow return for another season, Season 5 has officially been confirmed as the franchise’s final chapter. The concluding season wrapped its story with Episode 8, Blood and Bone, on May 20, finally bringing closure to the long-running chaos surrounding Homelander, Butcher, Hughie, Annie, and the rest of the team. Creator Eric Kripke previously explained that five seasons always felt like the perfect number for the show. Speaking to TheWrap, Kripke shared that he prefers the five-season structure because it gives enough time to fully explore the characters without stretching the story so far that it “wears out its welcome.”

“I like five seasons, People have been asking me why that number, and I think honestly, as a TV writer, I was trained on five acts, and so it just makes sense to me to stretch out for that long," he said.

"It gives you enough time to delve into the characters, but it’s also not so long that it wears out its welcome.”  Kripke explained to TheWrap.

However, while The Boys itself has officially ended, its universe is still far from finished. The spin-off series, Vought Rising, is expected to dive into the early rise of Vought alongside the origins of Soldier Boy and Stormfront. Beyond that, Eric Kripke has also teased more spin-offs, including The Boys: Mexico, although the future of the franchise will heavily depend on audience response and Amazon’s plans to keep the bloody universe alive.

And as The Boys finally closes its chaotic final chapter, the Season 5 finale ultimately proved that while some characters escaped with peace, others were left carrying scars the franchise never intended to heal.
