There is finally some sunshine for The Bear and its crew after they weathered one of the toughest storms of their journey so far. Season 5 kicked off with the tension of Carmy, played by Jeremy Allen White, preparing to leave the restaurant. Later in the season, Carmy, Sydney, Richie, and the rest of the team take on the biggest challenge of their careers, pushing themselves to the limit in hopes of earning The Bear its first Michelin star.
Now, their task became even more difficult when a violent thunderstorm hit Chicago, throwing the restaurant into chaos with supply issues, reservations, and much more. And amid the intense heat, pressure, and frustration, Sydney finally reveals to the team that Carmy has decided to leave the restaurant. This is followed by an emotional speech from Carmy explaining why he has chosen to step away.
But despite every hurdle, the team manages to pull off a successful service. However, the “Star man” or the inspector expected to award the Michelin stars is nowhere to be seen that day. It is later revealed that he had actually visited the restaurant three months earlier and awarded The Bear two Michelin stars. The team gets the news through Carmy, receiving a call from an unknown number, which turns out to be from Peter Clark, better known as the "Star Man."
When an anxious Sydney asks Carmy “Did we get a star?” he quietly shakes his head before correcting her that it is not "we" but her (you) who got the star. He says that Sydney and The Bear has earned two Michelin stars. The moment was again a sad reminder that Carmy is ready to move on from the restaurant.
Throughout the season, he gradually steps back while mentoring Sydney, slowly passing the torch and the responsibility of leading the restaurant. That journey comes full circle in the finale, as Sydney rushes outside to hug her former boss and closest friend, Carmy, celebrating the feat they made possible together.
This brings attention to Carmy, and what does the future hold for the character as he bids goodbye to the restaurant?
Where did Carmy go after leaving The Bear?
During his speech to the team, Carmy explains that he does not enjoy owning his restaurant as much as he thought he would and wants to move on. As seen, the team accepts its decision. But before his departure, he ensures that The Bear does not fall apart. Although The Bear earns a Michelin star, he encourages Jimmy, who lost all his money investing in the restaurant, not to give up on it.
Meanwhile, Cousin Stevie, played by John Mulaney, helped Carmy secure an internship at an architectural firm. In the final moments, Carmy, still wearing his apron, is seen sitting at his desk, which is likely at his new workplace. He sends a text to his late brother, Mikey, that reads, "All good," before closing his eyes and reminiscing about the happy memories he shared with his family at the restaurant.
How do things end for Sydney Adamu
One of the season's most heartwarming moments comes when Sydney and Carmy discover that The Bear has earned two Michelin stars. With Carmy stepping away, Sydney takes over as head chef, showing her skills during the crucial service when ingredients run low. She also names Tina as the restaurant's chef de cuisine.
What did Richie decide on his Japan trip
As for Richie Jerimovich, he earned an invitation to an international hospitality seminar in Japan after impressing an engaged couple dining at The Bear, who work for Pellegrino. Although he initially says he is nervous because he has never flown before, Carmy helps him realize that his fear comes from stepping outside his comfort zone.

Their heartfelt conversation gives Richie the confidence to accept the opportunity. Before leaving, Richie throws a surprise party for his daughter at The Bear. And he is also joined by Chef Jess for his trip to Japan. All in all, it is a full circle for the show and its character.
