One of the most talked-about romances in Hollywood seems to have gained heat once again. Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise are a pair that pops up every time romance and pop culture are discussed in tandem. Their saga began with an audition for the racing film Days of Thunder in 1989. Now, almost four decades later, the Hollywood pair has once again found themselves in the spotlight together, all thanks to Tom Cruise himself.
As talks around Days of Thunder 2 gain momentum, the Mission: Impossible star has seemingly shared his wish to recreate the iconic pairing with his ex-wife and co-star, Nicole Kidman.
Tom Cruise wants to work with Nicole Kidman after almost three decades
A source close to Tom Cruise recently shared with RadarOnline.com that the actor is interested in working with Nicole Kidman in the action drama sequel, Days of Thunder 2. However, the decision still lies in the actress’ hands.
“Tom apparently wants it to happen, but the ball is in Nicole's, and only Nicole's, court," said the insider.

Days of Thunder 2 has been officially greenlighted by Paramount. However, an official full cast has not been announced. The source also told RadarOnline.com that the actress’ return to the IP will not be easy.
“Remember, Nicole's focus for the last decade has been to work with and elevate female directors and producers, and her track record with that is industry-best”. The claim is not entirely unwarranted as Kidman has once again stepped into one of her iconic franchises, alongside a star-studded female ensemble for a sequel.
Not only is Kidman starring in the film, but is also producing it alongside Sandra Bullock, both reprising their roles from the previous films.

Practical Magic 2, inspired by Alice Hoffman's 2021 novel, The Book of Magic, arrives in theaters on September 11, 2026. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman will reprise their roles as the iconic Owens sisters nearly three decades after the original 1998 film. Alongside the returning stars, Joey King, Maisie Williams, Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod will also be seen in the new installment.

The story is set twenty-five years after the events of the first film, zeroing in on the Owens family trying to break the curse that has haunted their lineage for centuries. While Kidman prepares to revive one of her iconic franchises, whether she will ever reunite with Tom Cruise on screen, for whom she was ready to throw away her career once, is something only time can tell.
