The Acolyte season creator, Leslye Headland, recently expressed an unwavering desire to return to the director's chair to Empire, if the series ever receives a second chance. She believes that as more viewers discover the narrative over time, public demand for a continuation will naturally intensify and can result in season 2.

“I would still want to do it! Absolutely,” she shared with Empire. Her creative team possesses numerous story elements left to explore, particularly regarding the deep mythology of the dark side. Future episodes would dive straight into the mysterious identity of the Stranger and his intricate history with Jedi Master Vernestra.

“We did have a lot of stuff that we wanted to explore, including tying in lore to the sequels,” she continued. Furthermore, a second season would explicitly connect these characters to the legendary Sith Lord, Darth Plagueis.

“Getting into who exactly Manny’s character is, his connection with Vernestra, his connection with Plagueis, and then his connection with other sequel-established things,” she added. These narrative threads are designed to seamlessly tie the High Republic era into the events of the sequel films.
