Riz Ahmed, during his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, shared a few memorable moments from the world premiere of Digger at Leicester Square in London. One of the most memorable moments came just before the premiere, when Tom Cruise had a few final words for the cast and crew. Ahmed recalled that while everyone expected Cruise to give a speech, the Hollywood star instead shared a few heartwarming words about Ahmed’s mother.

“Everyone thinks, all right, he's going to give a speech, say something inspirational. He just points to me and goes, 'Riz!'. Everyone looks at me, and he goes 'your mom. Amazing! Love your mom. She's fantastic! Beautiful mom. That was the last words we heard before presenting the film to the world," he recalled.

And it was not just Cruise, as Ahmed recalled during his appearance on The Tonight Show. Ahmed’s mother also had plenty of praise for the Top Gun actor. Ahmed shared that after his mother met everyone, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, he asked her whether she liked Cruise. His mother had an amusing response to his question.

“Nice boy!” Ahmed recalled his mother’s response.

Ahmed’s mother is also his biggest supporter and fan. In an interview with ELLE, the actor shared that his mother cares about something far more important than his fame, and that is whether he is eating enough. Moreover, in the photo of Ahmed and his mother that Fallon pulled out during the show, she is visibly happy and proud of her son.

While Digger is certainly one of the most curious films featuring Ahmed and Cruise, the movie appears to have suffered a major blow even before its release.

Digger’s tough journey ahead with critics

Digger is one of the most anticipated films of the year, starring Tom Cruise and Riz Ahmed. While the movie garnered immense hype, it did not receive the same level of love from critics. The film debuted at 41% and has since settled around 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, reflecting the largely negative critical response.

The movie was made on a budget of more than $125 million, meaning it would likely need to earn at least $300 million at the box office to make a significant impact. However, the poor reviews have left fans wondering about the film’s future. With the movie facing a heavy blow from critics, it remains to be seen whether Digger can win over audiences and turn things around at the box office.
