Whether it is The Lost City or Speed, Sandra Bullock has always brought a unique charm and power to the screen, making her performances memorable and iconic. And as she began to make her name in the industry, she was dubbed “America’s Sweetheart,” earning the love and admiration of the people. But now, the actress wants to pass the torch to another Hollywood actress.

Bullock initially seemed to be caught between several choices, with many names coming to mind when she considered who could inherit the title. However, the Practical Magic 2 star named a few actresses from the younger generation and explained why she believes they could carry the torch. And one of them is also an Academy Award winner.

Sandra Bullock recently sat down with Kylie Kelce on her podcast, Not Gonna Lie, where she was asked about her title as “America’s Sweetheart.” After some thought, she explained that the title should be passed on to actresses younger than her. She named Emma Stone, Emily in Paris actress Lily Collins, and her Practical Magic 2 co-stars as potential successors.

“Emma Stone, give it to her. Lily Collins, give it to Lily,” she said. 

“Joey and Maisie in this film, like they have spice now. The great thing about the younger generation is that they can be spicy. I wasn't allowed to be spicy.”

The actress further explained that being placed on such a pedestal came with its own responsibilities and expectations. She noted that people wanted her to be safe and maintain a certain image. However, she added that younger actresses such as her, Practical Magic 2 co-stars, Joey King and Maisie Williams today understand the right balance, and audiences are becoming more accepting of women who are more than just perfect.

And it is not just the actresses of the younger generation that Bullock had praise for. She also spoke highly of her kids and their brutal honesty.

During the Not Gonna Lie podcast, Sandra Bullock praised her daughter, Laila, for her honesty but admitted that it can be brutal at times. The actress recalled an instance when Laila suggested that she use a filter on Zoom to make herself look better. Bullock added that Laila even went into the Zoom settings and turned on the filter for her.

“I was getting on a Zoom, and she walks by and she went, ‘You know, you can put a filter on that,’” Sandra said. “I went, ‘What?’ She goes, You [can] make yourself look better.’”

She further added that her daughter is brave and fearless and knows how to handle things. The actress also had immense praise for her son, Louis. She has immense faith in the young generation, and as for the title of America’s Sweetheart, she is happy to pass on the baton.
