“This character matters so much to so many.” Henry Cavill once recalled and brought to the fore that he was well aware of the importance of Superman to the audience. Donning the red cape and swooshing past theater screens with a sonic boom, the actor made every second of his presence felt on screen with 2013’s Man of Steel. However, ten years later, he was shown the door by the new DC chief, James Gunn. Yet, one place where no one can oust him from is fans’ hearts.
Although divisive in reception, it was without a doubt that Cavill was the most physically accurate Superman. Fans recently took to Twitter to voice their “honest opinions” on the British actor’s stint of justice. In a largely unanimous vote, fans highly believed that no matter who came as a replacement, Henry Cavill would forever stay the best.

Zack Snyder’s take on Superman had The Witcher actor take on a gritty and dark tone of the character. While it gave him sufficient screen time, it hardly left much room for him to smile. Regardless, the 40-year-old shone in fierceness as he deftly embodied Superman’s ethos of hope and justice. Even if critics were hard to please, the visually striking and high-action pace of the movie cemented Cavill’s prowess to command the screens.
Unfortunately, the actor’s take and Snyder’s approach faltered in ratings. Trying to depict an inexperienced Superman, the director focused heavily on collateral destruction that left critics fuming at the sharp departure from the comics. Moreover, recently, the new DC co-chief, James Gunn, booted Henry Cavill out of his new DC canon. Yet, did he truly oust him?
Come what may, the sheer persona, stature, and bold outlook of Cavill’s Superman still have a place lodged firmly in fans’ hearts.
Fans make it clear that Henry Cavill was born to play Superman
Henry Cavill stared right through with sheer determination and grit on his face in many scenes of the Man of Steel. Owning up completely to the story, he outshone his task and landed right in many fans’ hearts. Reactions to whether DC would ever be able to replace Henry Cavill were overwhelmingly negative. Furthermore, fans made it clear that DC’s Superman replacement, David Corenswet may build his stature to look like him, but he would never be Cavill.
He’s born for this character, period.

As unfortunate as it may sound, it is now canon that Henry Cavill is no longer canon to DC. In his ten-year-long stint; the actor did not have as many solo outings as he should have. Regardless, in terms of the fandom, he has done enough. While it definitely would have served better for DC to let him go with a ceremonious exit, there is always room for James Gunn to rectify it.
