Who knew a foul-mouthed teddy bear could become everyone’s favorite? The first film, following Ted and his best friend, became a massive success when it arrived in theaters in 2012. It went on to spawn a franchise. Apart from the movies, Ted’s hilarious antics have also expanded to the small screen, with a TV series and a promised animated series in the works.

Interestingly, there has been chatter about yet another Ted movie, too. While rumors of a new Ted film have yet to be confirmed, fans can turn the clock back and revisit the previous two Ted movies or watch those for the first time.

How to watch the Ted movies

There are two Ted movies. The first movie, titled Ted arrived in 2012, and it is available to rent on Amazon Prime Video. The sequel, Ted 2, followed in 2015. It is available to watch on FuboTV and can also be rented on Amazon Prime Video.

The first movie follows John Bennett, who lives with his childhood teddy bear, Ted, who never hesitates to speak his mind. The second movie takes Ted on an interesting journey as he enters a legal battle to be recognized as a person with civil rights. Now, there is talk of a third movie.

More than 10 years later, Mark Wahlberg said during a YouTube livestream episode titled N3on Survives Mark Wahlberg's 4 AM Morning Routine that he and Seth MacFarlane could return for a third movie. However, nothing is confirmed as of yet. MacFarlane has voiced Ted in both films and the TV series.

Much like the movies, the series also gained considerable attention. However, Seth MacFarlane previously hinted that he might not be able to continue the franchise.

Seth MacFarlane says making Ted is costly

The animated bear Ted, speaking his mind, is the heart of the show. However, bringing the character to life for both the films and the series requires immense effort and a massive budget. While the series currently has two seasons, MacFarlane shared that the costs could make a third season difficult.

“What I kept hearing [from Peacock and Universal] was, ‘Listen, the show is really expensive to produce, and there’s no way to do it at a lower cost,’ so I said, ‘all right, I hear you loud and clear,’” he told The Wrap.

He compared the amount of work involved to making a Marvel movie in just 22 minutes. Given the massive budget required, questions remain about whether the show could continue for a third season. While there does not appear to be much movement on the series at the moment, there still seems to be potential for another movie.
