In 2016, Millie Bobby Brown sat down for her first interview with Daily Mail. During the conversation, the young star opened up about her life before fame. She revealed it was a difficult phase for the Brown family when she was trying to break into the entertainment industry. Her parents sold everything to move from London to support the dreams of their preteen daughter. “It was very hard. There were lots of tears along the way,” recalled the now 19-year-old.

She gained small roles in shows like NCIS, Modern Family, and Grey’s Anatomy, but was striving to get starring roles. They barely made ends meet and had to borrow money from people to survive. But when the pressure kept on building, her sibling failed to handle it and moved back to the UK. “It was tears, tears, tears. We went through tough times,” admitted Brown.
Failing to break the tough industry, the Netflix star and her parents also moved back, which devastated her deeply.

In the same interview, Brown continued to talk about her feelings when they came back to England. The award-winning actress felt her acting career had ended because she was not getting any work. She got another hit when a casting agent in London made her cry during the audition. “She said I was too mature and grown up,” revealed the Damsel star. But it was also the last day of her hardships because later that day she auditioned for the horror drama.

Within weeks, Brown got selected for the role of Eleven and flew to Atlanta to shoot for the project that became immensely popular. Though the family has gained back all the things they lost on the way, her parents still stay out of the limelight. They believe in staying down to earth no matter how much money they have and teach their superstar daughter the same to date.
