A few days ahead of the season 22 debut of the reality show, Paul has decided to be frank and kept it real about navigating her struggles. 

Taylor Frankie Paul has revealed her emotional distress resulted from the ongoing domestic violence investigation against her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, which started three days before the show's premiere. At press events for The Bachelorette, Paul spoke candidly about her personal problems, which make it difficult for her to commit to her work responsibilities. She described the two-way a****** investigations as a heavy time, acknowledging that the timing has made it difficult to fully enjoy what should be a celebratory career moment.

Paul, however, showed determination to continue her work despite the ongoing controversy. Entertainment Weekly reached out to Paul recently, where the viral social media star discussed how her tumultuous relationship and the investigations have taken away the excitement from her upcoming show.

"I've had better days. Everything that's been heavy right now is kind of taking away from that, I'm not going to lie. But in the normal situation, I'd be very excited," Paul told the outlet.

"I think that's the best case, honestly, because clearly it's just not to a point of us getting along, so I wanted to take the best action I could. […] I didn't want to bring anything to the public eye, making it a bigger deal for the sake of my son, and just everything about to come out. But that wasn't the plan for him," Paul added.

Authorities confirmed that an active investigation had been underway following a reported domestic incident in late February. The situation caused a ripple effect on her professional life, as can be seen in several high-profile Hollywood cases, leading to several disruptions in her workflow.

Most recently, production of Taylor Frankie Paul's hit Hulu series, season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, stopped production abruptly owing to Paul's current legal troubles. According to PEOPLE, the Draper City Police Department, which is leading the investigations, confirmed that the domestic a****** investigation regarding Paul and her on-again/off-again ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, opened with allegations coming from both parties.   

Meanwhile, some contestants from The Bachelorette expressed feelings of shock and betrayal upon learning of the case, per the outlet. Insiders told PEOPLE that the contestants felt disappointed as events surrounding Paul came to light. According to the outlet, fellow Mormon Wives cast members also have been keeping their distance from Paul.

Speaking with Extra, Paul assured fans of The Bachelorette of a great season upcoming, urging viewers not to judge the show before actually watching it. It premieres Sunday at 8 PM ET/PT on ABC.
