A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a fantasy series based on George R.R. Martin’s 'Dunk and Egg' novellas. While the series is gaining praise for its riveting story and characters, the cast has also caught attention for the striking differences among the fellow cast members. In the novel, Tanselle is described as taller than most other women and only half a head shorter than the character of Dunk. The character played by Peter Claffey is described as 6 feet 11 inches, which would place Tanselle somewhere between 6 feet 6 inches and 6 feet 7 inches. But while 5 feet 11 inches is not close to 6 feet 6 inches, she fits the description standing next to Claffey, who himself is a few inches shy of his character's height.

While A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is ringing in applause for its impeccable casting, there are a few stones that were kept too high to turn, one of them being Ser Duncan's height.

To play the tallest character in George R.R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg novellas, just how tall does an actor need to be? Peter Claffey, who plays Ser Duncan the Tall in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, stands at 6 feet 5 inches. While he may not quite reach Dunk’s book-described height of 6 feet 11 inches, he is still an excellent fit for the role.

Claffey’s height alone makes him tower over much of the cast, giving him the imposing presence the character requires. Standing beside Dexter Sol Ansell, who plays Egg, and Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, both clearly shorter than Claffey, easily shows Dunk’s larger-than-life physicality. Apart from that, he brilliantly brings the character’s body language and slightly awkward movements to life.
