The first The Housemaid turned domestic service into a pressure cooker, following Sydney Sweeney's Millie Calloway as she stepped into a wealthy household where every polished room concealed another secret. Sweeney’s performance anchored the psychological thriller, while Paul Feig balanced the sinister material with the pulpy energy that made the film such a crowd-pleaser. The result became a major theatrical success, earning more than $400 million worldwide. 

And now Millie is opening another door, with another stranger waiting on the other side.

Stephen Kalyn is the latest piece added to Lionsgate’s increasingly stacked The Housemaid’s Secret, as per THR. The Off Campus breakout has closed a deal to join the sequel, with Kalyn set to play Brock. He arrives alongside returning franchise players Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone, who reprise Millie Calloway and Enzo, respectively.  The ensemble has expanded considerably since the original film.

THR reported that Kirsten Dunst is joining as Wendy, while Brittany Snow has boarded as Marybeth, and Paul Anthony Kelly is playing Douglas Garrick in his feature-film debut after his breakout as John F. Kennedy Jr. in Love Story. Paul Feig returns to direct, with Rebecca Sonnenshine writing the screenplay. Producers include Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman, Pretty Dangerous Pictures’ Laura Fischer and Feig, alongside Sweeney for Honey Trap.

If the first film made the Winchester house feel like a beautifully dressed trap, the sequel is preparing an entirely new maze.

The sequel adapts Freida McFadden’s 2023 novel, moving Millie into a new domestic nightmare. After the events of the first story, she takes another housekeeping job, this time working for the wealthy Garrick family in a lavish penthouse. The catch arrives almost immediately: Millie is told she cannot see Mrs. Garrick. That locked-door setup becomes the sequel’s central mystery.

Millie discovers that something is seriously wrong with the woman hidden inside, and her instincts push her toward investigating rather than simply keeping her head down. The novel also folds Millie’s own dangerous past back into the equation, meaning the woman doing the cleaning may have considerably more to hide than the people employing her. 

The cinematic sequel is scheduled for December 17, 2027, giving Feig and Sweeney another opportunity to turn McFadden’s page-turner into a glossy, twist-heavy theatrical thriller. 

With Stephen Kalyn now entering the housemaid universe, the sequel is becoming an even more intriguing ensemble mystery. The locks are changing, the players are multiplying, and Millie’s latest job may prove more dangerous than the last.
