actress played an American nun peeling back the layers of mystery in an Italian
convent. Fresh from the bright lights of Saturday Night Live, Sweeney headed to
Austin for the world premiere of her new religious horror movie at SXSW. But
amidst the glitz and glam, she did not forget to bring a touch of home. The
actress shone a spotlight on her grandmas, who also contributed to the 2024
movie.

The 26-year-old actress brought her grandmas along to the premiere of the
thriller after surprising them with roles in Immaculate.

Sydney Sweeney brought along two of her grandmothers and her mother, Lisa
Sweeney, to the Los Angeles premiere of Immaculate on Friday. Playing a pair of
little old nuns in the same Italian convent as Sweeney’s character Cecilia, her
grandmas added a special touch to the film’s storyline. During her recent
appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on February 27, Sweeney
shared the story of flying her two grandmas to Italy to take part as extras in
the movie.

On the talk show, Sweeney arrived with a stack of photos featuring her grandmas
on the set, ready to show Jimmy Fallon and the audience. Fallon could not resist
sharing a picture of one of Sweeney’s grandmas, taking a smoke break in costume,
sending the audience into fits of laughter. Sweeney revealed that her entire
family has a strong affinity for the horror genre. She herself has been eyeing
the role since her teenage years.
