With Kristen Stewart returning to a vampire movie, Dwayne Johnson starring in a big-budget A24 wrestling film, and Hugh Jackman reimagining the classic Robin Hood tale, Hollywood is bubbling over with creativity right now. And Sydney Sweeney is keeping pace. Her upcoming untitled project recently landed on the Cannes hot list alongside other finished films and packages from heavyweights like Hugh Jackman, Dwayne Johnson, and Kristen Stewart, as revealed by Deadline.

The Euphoria sensation is stepping into the ring to take on the role of legendary boxer Christy Martin in a sports biopic. Despite her versatility across various genres, Sweeney has never really done a biopic before. However, this decision of hers to embark into this uncharted territory should not come as a surprise, considering her knack for sports.

During an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show in 2021, Sydney Sweeney opened up about her interest in martial arts. The 26-year-old admitted to undergoing dedicated training for the combat sport, under the guidance of coaches who had mentored MMA icons like Ronda Rousey. But that was not all. The Anyone But You actress had even competed in tournaments to make it as an MMA fighter.

Sydney Sweeney's dedication led her to train so rigorously that she could even outmatch men in a high-weight class. However, her Hollywood career made her set aside her aspirations to become a sportsperson since she could not risk getting injured. Nevertheless, she managed to squeeze in time for MMA whenever possible. Now, with a boxing film on the horizon, Sweeney hopes to shine both in the ring and on the silver screen with another groundbreaking performance.
