The Housemaid star Sydney Sweeney is set to return as Millie Calloway for another intense and bloody deal, in a sequel to the breakout hit. After its highly anticipated release in December 2025, the film performed well at the global box office, earning nearly $395 million worldwide. Given that success, discussions about a follow-up began surprisingly early during the movie’s theatrical run.

Even the story’s closing moments hinted at Millie embracing a darker path to rescue trapped women. And now it appears that Millie will finally have a new family, workplace, and more complex mysteries as the filming dates get confirmed.

Director Paul Feig, who helmed The Housemaid, spoke about the upcoming project and shared a brief update on its progress during an interview at the Academy Awards. He has confirmed that the sequel will begin filming in the fall of this year. Feig also revealed that the script has already been completed, and that he is currently working on a rewrite before production officially begins.

“We start shooting in the fall,” he said.

The Housemaid is based on Freida McFadden’s popular trilogy that follows Millie Calloway. The upcoming sequel will adapt the second novel, The Housemaid’s Secret. With Paul Feig returning to direct, it has also been confirmed that screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine, who worked on the first film, will return for the sequel. Sydney Sweeney is set to reprise her role, while Michele Morrone, who played Enzo, is also expected to return.
