The 1968 film featured Jane Fonda in the lead role. It was adapted from the French comic series of the same name created by Jean-Claude Forest. Being an icon of its time, <a href="https://www.netflixjunkie.com/netflix-news-i-try-not-to-jane-fonda-discloses-her-apprehensions-of-sydney-sweeney-taking-over-her-role-in-cult-classic-barbarella/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jane Fonda had expressed concerns about Sydney Sweeney’s remake</a> of the titular character. Although one understands where she is coming from, given Sydney Sweeney’s current stardom, one cannot help but hope for an epic comeback of Barbarella.

Last October, Sydney Sweeney announced her partnership with Sony Pictures for Barbarella’s remake. Reports suggest that not only she is the star of the upcoming revival, but she is also a shareholder of production costs for this upcoming flick with her Fifty-Fifty Films. The character, as originally portrayed by Jane Fonda, left a lasting impression on people’s minds due to its daring costumes and immense acting skills.
