Tom Francis, the 26-year-old British actor best known for portraying Joe Gillis in the revival of Sunset Boulevard, has officially auditioned for the role of James Bond. Amazon MGM Studios is deep into its global 007 casting search, with acclaimed casting director Nina Gold leading the charge across multiple contenders. Francis, armed with Broadway credentials, has emerged as one of the early names generating serious buzz in what is shaping up to be one of Hollywood's most-watched casting races.

While the spotlight has long found Francis on stage, it seems the cameras of Bond 26 may be ready to find him next.

Sunset Boulevard star Tom Francis has auditioned for the role of James Bond, with the news confirmed by a Variety source with direct knowledge of the ongoing 007 search. Francis, trained at the Arts Educational School in London, is one of several actors being considered for the part. Representatives for both Francis and Amazon MGM Studios have declined to comment, keeping the process tightly under wraps, as the studio continues its search with quiet, deliberate precision.

Francis built his reputation almost entirely on stage, originating the role of Joe Gillis opposite Nicole Scherzinger in Jamie Lloyd's minimalist, screen-heavy 2023 West End revival of Sunset Boulevard at the Savoy Theatre. The production transferred to Broadway in 2024, earning seven Tony nominations, including Best Revival of a Musical. Francis took home the 2024 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical and received a Tony nomination, a remarkable double for a debut leading role.
