‘Stranger Things’ Star Joe Keery Turns Into a Twisted Uber Driver

Joe Keery has lapped up praise for his performance as Steve Harrington, the dedicated charmer who courageously battled the evil forces of the Upside Down in Stranger Things. Through his bravery and empathy, he has captured the hearts of fans. However, what if he were to showcase a different side of his character — a sinister, twisted, and murderous facet? That is precisely what he does in an unsettling horror film.

In Spree, a horror comedy directed by Eugene Kotlyarenko, the 31-year-old actor took on the role of Kurt Kunkle. The 2020 movie aimed to entertain viewers while prompting them to reflect on their behaviors. It presented itself through a series of streams of dashcam footage and phone videos to create an exhilarating and immersive experience for the audience. The horror flick is now streaming on Hulu.

It boasts a cast that includes Sasheer Zamata as Jessie, a stand-up comedian who became Kurt’s obsession and target. David Arquette portrayed Kris, the character’s father, in the film. Additionally, Kyle Mooney features as Miles, Kurt’s former friend, turned influencer.
The movie delved into aspects of social media culture and examined society’s fixation on fame and validation. Keery gave a self-assured portrayal of Kurt, a completely desperate character with delusions of grandeur. Kurt was willing to do whatever it takes to attain his dream of going viral. Additionally, Keery was impressed with his skills, in his side project called Djo.

Joe Keery’s character, Steve Harrington, underwent a drastic transformation in Stranger Things. Originally known as a jock and bully, he evolved into a figure and is a true friend. Along the way, he befriended Dustin Henderson and became an integral part of the Party. Steve found employment at Scoops Ahoy and later at a video store where he worked alongside Robin Buckley.

In Stranger Things season 5, viewers can anticipate witnessing a growth in Steve’s character as he encounters fresh challenges and perils. There are hints that his friendship with Robin might deepen.
