Michael Jackson's nephew, Taj Jackson, openly denied a New York Post article written by Stacy Brown claiming the Jackson family had organized a Thriller tour to capitalize on the success of Michael. In a post on his X account, he urged supporters to quit believing tabloids and declared the allegations to be false. His remarks coincide with a spike in Jackson-related news after the movie's unprecedented box office debut.
"Do I have to drag you again, @nypost. Leave my family alone with your lies and clickbait articles. You and your fake sources. A “family source”.. blah blah blah. Stacy Brown, you have no credibility, never have. That’s why I’ve called you a weasel in the past. And just so you know, Stacy Brown was having dinner with the prosecution team during my uncle’s trial. Stop trusting the tabloids," he wrote in his X post.
The disputed article, which named La Toya, Rebbie, Jermaine, Jackie, and Marlon Jackson as participants and implied Janet Jackson was being approached, connected the purported tour plans to the financial success of the Michael Jackson biopic. The family has not offered any confirmation, and Taj Jackson's remarks explicitly refute the allegations.
In its first weekend of release on April 24, 2026, Michael made $217 million worldwide, surpassing Bohemian Rhapsody as the biggest music biopic premiere. The movie made almost $238 million globally by the conclusion of its first week, surpassing its $200 million production budget.
The biopic’s success was not about the King of Pop’s inspirational story or Jafaar Jackson’s performance alone, but a collaborative effort by the amazing ensemble cast.
A dream team for a story so fabled
Michael, produced by Lionsgate and directed by Antoine Fuqua, chronicles the late pop icon's journey from his early years in Gary, Indiana, with the Jackson 5, to his rise to international fame, encompassing hits like Thriller and Off the Wall.
