During a conversation with the Disclosure Day cast for Vanity Fair, including Colmon Domingo, Emily Blunt, and Josh O' Connor, director Steven Spielberg was asked by Domingo which filmmaker he would most like to have dinner with. Spielberg was quick to name Alfred Hitchcock.

The director further recalled that he visited Hitchcock's film set with a The Washington Post reporter in the hope of meeting him. As per Spielberg, Hitchcock apparently spotted him standing behind him, either through a mirror or a camera monitor. And he quietly instructed his assistant director to escort Spielberg off the set.

"And I noticed that Hitchcock made a gesture with his hand and the assistant director came running over and Hitchcock went like this and whispered something to the AD and the AD turned and looked right at me. And walked right over and said, 'You have to leave.' And we were thrown off the set. [...] And whether Hitchcock, maybe there was a mirror in the set, maybe he saw a reflection, but we were thrown off the set," he said.

The Disclosure Day cast was shocked by his story. When Emily Blunt asked whether he would still like to meet Hitchcock, Spielberg agreed. However, it is not because he wants to know why Hitchcock had him removed from the set. Instead, Spielberg said he has many questions to ask Hitchcock, and those are perhaps about the director's filmmaking, creative process, and artistic vision that he would love to ask.
