Celebrity divorces always attract massive public attention, whether because of the high-profile couples involved or the jaw-dropping financial settlements that follow. Over the years, several celebrity separations have made headlines for multiple reasons. One such case was Steven Spielberg's costly divorce from his ex-wife, Amy Irving.
The Disclosure Day director reportedly parted with a massive portion of his fortune following the divorce. This came after the former couple relied on a bizarre prenuptial agreement.

Steven Spielberg was married to Amy Irving for nearly four years, from 1985 to 1989. During their divorce, the director was ordered to pay Irving $100 Million, which is nearly half of his fortune at the time. They had a prenup, but it was written on a napkin and ruled invalid by the court.
The settlement became one of the most expensive celebrity divorce agreements of its era. The two also share a son together, Max, who is nearly 39 years old now. After their divorce, the two took to co-parenting their son and share a great bond with him.
Previously, the two began dating around 1976. However, they ended their relationship in 1979. Their breakup reportedly led to Irving even losing the role that ultimately went to Karen Allen in Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
"I don't think we ever got to that point of conversation. I moved out, and I think you walk out – you don't get the part,” Irving told The Hollywood Reporter.
Years after their split, Spielberg and Irving rekindled their relationship after crossing paths again during a work trip to India. The couple tied the knot in 1985. But their marriage was short-lived, ending in divorce just four years later in 1989.
Despite a divorce, the two are on good terms and even go on double dates.

"We've always communicated and been close," Amy told THR's It Happened in Hollywood Podcast. "He and Kate and my husband and I, we try to double-date now and then," she added.
