Steven Soderbergh has stepped in to complete production on The Batman Part II while Matt Reeves remains away to deal with a family matter. The film, starring Robert Pattinson, has been closely followed by eager fans looking for new updates. Most recently, the pause in production left fans wondering about its progress, while the studio and cast assured them of a swift return.

Now, after a brief pause, the studio has made a surprising change by switching directors. 

The Batman Part II, which previously saw an unexpected pause, will finally resume filming. However, this time, Steven Soderbergh, famous for directing Ocean’s Eleven, will take over directing to complete production. But that does not mean the film’s director, Matt Reeves, is out of the picture.

“Just to be clear, I am not leaving The Batman Part II. I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography,” Reeves wrote on X.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Soderbergh is expected to work in London. Meanwhile, Reeves will continue to work from Los Angeles. So later, the director will be able to get more involved when the movie goes into post-production.

The movie is reportedly about two-thirds complete. While the switch came quite suddenly, it is nothing new. Director Zack Snyder was replaced by Joss Whedon for 2017’s Justice League. Now, previously, during the brief pause in production, Robert Pattinson, who is starring as Batman in the film, assured fans that they would get back in action soon.

However, what has kept fans hooked on the upcoming film is the fascinating details revealed by the director or the director himself.

Robert Pattinson’s The Batman Part II has kept fans guessing about the plot, villain, roles, and much more. And if anything, the actor’s recent comment has further hyped up fans. Pattinson, in his conversation with Collider, shared that the upcoming movie has taken a new approach.

"It's so ambitious. I mean, I sort of said the other day on something that the first one was a different take on a Batman movie, and this one is another," he said.

The actor further added that while the approach is different in this movie, it has kept a few elements from the first one. Moreover, Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan have also joined the film, as Matt Reeves had earlier announced. And while Reeves remains a crucial part of the film, it will now be helmed by Steven Soderbergh.
