The shadows of 1930s New York just got a little longer. The brand new trailer for Spider-Noir has finally arrived, and it looks like a cigarette-burned crime reel dug out of a forgotten theater basement.  For fans who followed the long road from Sony’s animated Spider-Verse experiments to this live action gamble, the trailer feels like the payoff to years of whispered development rumors. The footage also teases a twisted underworld filled with gangsters, corrupt elites, and what looks like a reimagined Sinister Six operating together from Marvel’s darkest corners.

The real fascination, however, is not just the hero. It is the rogues gallery lurking behind every smoky doorway. The trailer barely gives full answers, but longtime Spider-Man readers already recognize the fingerprints of some dangerous names.

Silvermane

Silvermane appears positioned as the kingpin figure of Spider-Noir’s underworld. In Marvel comics, Silvermane is Silvio Manfredi, an aging mob boss obsessed with power, immortality, and maintaining control over New York’s criminal empire. The trailer hints at exactly that kind of influence, showing shadowy boardroom meetings and old-money crime families operating behind velvet curtains.

What makes this version fascinating is how naturally Silvermane fits the noir aesthetic. In classic Spider-Man comics, he often felt overshadowed by Kingpin, but inside a Depression-era city full of corruption and bootleg violence, Silvermane suddenly becomes the perfect villain. He feels ripped directly out of a James Cagney gangster picture with a Marvel twist.

Why Nicolas Cage Suggested Shooting ‘Spider-Noir’ in Color Despite Its Black and White Style?

But every great noir crime boss needs chaos lurking beneath the city streets. If Silvermane represents old money and organized power, the trailer hints that another villain may embody the instability of New York itself.

Sandman

Sandman looks terrifyingly different here. Instead of the usual oversized CGI spectacle audiences know from previous Spider-Man films. This version appears grimier and almost supernatural. Brief trailer shots suggest his powers manifest like collapsing dust storms drifting through alleyways and abandoned subway tunnels.

Comic readers know Flint Marko has always been one of Spider-Man’s most tragic enemies. In a noir setting, that tragedy becomes even richer. The Great Depression backdrop practically writes itself into Sandman’s DNA, turning him into the embodiment of economic collapse and survival at any cost.

Tombstone

Tombstone may end up being the series’ most physically intimidating threat. The trailer flashes a pale, sharply dressed enforcer silently beating men in underground clubs, strongly suggesting Lonnie Lincoln’s arrival. Tombstone has always worked best when treated less like a supervillain and more like a mob executioner. Spider-Noir seems to understand that perfectly.

Black Cat

Black Cat is perhaps the trailer’s biggest wildcard. The footage only offers quick glimpses, but there are clear hints of a femme fatale operating between criminal circles and vigilante chaos. Traditionally, Felicia Hardy balances romance, manipulation, and moral ambiguity in Spider-Man lore.

Mega Watt

Megawatt is one of the more unexpected additions. Deep Marvel readers will recognize the obscure electricity-based villain from animated Spider-Man lore, but the trailer appears to reinvent the character entirely for this universe. The visual language surrounding Mega Watt feels industrial and experimental, almost like Nikola Tesla-inspired science gone wrong.

Jimmy Addison

Jimmy Addison remains the series’ biggest mystery. Unlike the others, he has no major comic history tied to mainstream Spider-Man canon, which has sparked heavy speculation among longtime fans. Some believe Jimmy Addison could function as the connective tissue between organized crime and the masked vigilantes haunting the city. Others suspect he may become a tragic figure whose downfall pushes The Spider deeper into New York’s corruption.

Spider-Noir premieres on MGM+ on May 25 before arriving globally on Prime Video on May 27. Whether this experiment becomes a one-season curiosity or the start of a larger Spider-Man television universe may depend entirely on audience response.
