Spider-Man: Brand New Day aims to break a record for the number of villains in a superhero movie by featuring at least ten antagonists drawn from Marvel comics lore. The confirmed cast includes Scorpion, who will be portrayed by Michael Mando, and Tombstone, who will add a violent danger element to the story.
The classic enemies will create disorder throughout New York City, while rumors stemming from Daniel RPK's scoop has it that an expanded enemy roster could come to their assistance. The story will reportedly include additional villains who will create various challenges for Spidey, including Boomerang, Tarantula, Shathra, Ramrod, The Hand, and 8-Ball, adding various shades of evil to the picture from mercenary tricksters to crime syndicates that operate in the shadows.
Other Marvel leaks also reveal a larger cast, which will include the lesser-known sect, The Enforcers and Jackal, along with other street criminals. They suggest that even minor villains will contribute to the extensive battle that will take place in the story.
According to scooper Daniel RPK, the movie also features the Tough Guys (Montana, Fancy Dan, and Ox) and the Chameleon, as their concept art was spotted on set. Inclusion of these characters further deepens the on-screen webslinger's Marvel comics relevance and amplifies anticipation.
Marvel introducing several new characters to expand Peter Parker's universe will further strengthen his comics root.
