Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still days away from arriving in theaters, but the cast and director have been generous in revealing fascinating details about the film. Tom Holland, who reprises his role as Peter Parker, has revealed that the movie leans into a darker version of his character. His co-star and wife, Zendaya, has also teased that the film will have plenty of emotional moments. 

Now, director Destin Daniel Cretton has opened up about a deleted scene that could have landed Spider-Man in serious trouble.

During an interview with Nerdtropolis, Destin Daniel Cretton spoke about a scene in Spider-Man: Brand New Day that featured several major MCU villains. The scene would have thrown Spider-Man into a massive battle against some of the franchise's biggest threats. However, Cretton revealed that the scene was ultimately cut and did not make it into the final version of the film.

“There was a whole scene that ended up getting cut from the film, where we were going to throw a whole bunch of villains into this one giant fight scene, and it ended up getting cut. But we were looking at a lot of the old classics. It was really fun, though. We got to design a lot of them,” he said.

When talking about classic Spider-Man villains, names like Loki, Grizzly, The Looter, and Slyde come to mind. However, those are purely speculative, as Cretton revealed to Nerdtropolis that the character never made it beyond the design stage. But fortunately, the director also hinted that the concept could potentially be revisited in a future film. As of now, though, there has been no official update on a fifth Spider-Man movie following Brand New Day.

While this iconic scene did not make the final cut, there are still plenty of exciting elements to look forward to in the film.  One of the biggest is its post-credit scene, which is already garnering plenty of buzz.

Most of Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies have featured two post-credit scenes, one midway through the credits and another after they finish rolling. Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home all followed this format. However, as per insider Daniel Richtman, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will reportedly feature just one post-credit scene. 

Despite there being only one, the scene is expected to play a major role in setting up the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday. It will reportedly tease a cosmic threat that could become the conflict of the next Avengers film, bringing Earth's mightiest heroes together to face it. If true, this is a notable departure from the previous Spider-Man films and signals a much stronger connection between Brand New Day and the MCU's next major crossover event.
