1. Spider-Man

Spider-Man: No Way Home left Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland, at the lowest point of his journey. In order to save the multiverse, Peter Parker made the heartbreaking decision to let the world forget he ever existed. His friends no longer remember him, his relationships were gone, and the life he had spent years building vanished overnight. When Spider-Man: Brand New Day begins, Peter is no longer the friendly neighborhood hero with a support system behind him.

Now in his early twenties, he lives alone in New York City, balancing the responsibilities of adulthood with the relentless demands of being Spider-Man. Without the resources, technology, and allies that once helped him, he has become a true street-level vigilante, relying only on his instincts, determination, and sense of responsibility.

With the city under siege and no one left to turn to, Spider-Man must prove once again why he remains one of Marvel's greatest heroes.

2. MJ

MJ has come a long way since her days as the sarcastic, observant outsider introduced in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Now, in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Michelle "MJ" Jones-Watson returns with a very different life ahead of her. Once again played by Zendaya, MJ is no longer the high school student who found herself swept into Spider-Man's adventures. She is now an ambitious MIT student focused on building her future alongside Ned Leeds.

Yet despite moving on, traces of her past seem impossible to erase completely. Thanks to Doctor Strange's spell in Spider-Man: No Way Home, MJ has no memory of Peter Parker and sees him as a stranger. Still, subtle clues suggest that some part of her remains connected to the life she forgot. As mysteries surrounding Spider-Man once again draw her attention, MJ finds herself pulled back toward a story she no longer remembers, setting the stage for one of the film's most emotional character arcs.

3. Ned Leeds

Since the very beginning of Spider-Man's MCU journey, Ned Leeds has been the kind of best friend everyone wishes they had: loyal, supportive, and always ready to help, no matter how dangerous the situation became. Returning once again as Ned is Jacob Batalon, whose fan-favorite character has been by Peter Parker's side since Spider-Man: Homecoming. But Spider-Man: Brand New Day introduces a heartbreaking twist to that friendship. Because of Doctor Strange's spell in No Way Home, Ned has completely forgotten the person who was once his closest friend and greatest secret.

Now a student at MIT alongside MJ, Ned has thrown his talents into technology, creating a crowdsourced app called "Spidey-Tracker" to monitor Spider-Man's activities across New York. Ironically, the friend who once helped protect Spider-Man's identity is now determined to uncover it. As his investigation intensifies, Ned becomes an unexpectedly important piece of a mystery that could change Spider-Man's life forever.

4. Hulk

Long before Spider-Man ever swung through the MCU, Bruce Banner was already carrying one of Marvel's greatest burdens. As one of the founding Avengers, he helped defend Earth from Loki's invasion, battled Ultron, survived the Infinity War, and played a crucial role in reversing Thanos' snap. Through it all, Banner's life has been defined by a constant struggle between genius and monster. Now, Mark Ruffalo returns as the iconic scientist in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, bringing decades of MCU history with him.

This time, Banner appears to be living a quieter life as a university professor, having traded battlefields for classrooms. But beneath that calm exterior lies the same volatile power that has haunted him for years. As Peter Parker turns to Banner for scientific guidance, their paths become intertwined through a shared battle with uncontrollable physical change, setting the stage for one of the film's most intriguing relationships.

5. Punisher

After years of waging a one-man war on crime in Marvel's street-level corner of the universe, Frank Castle is finally leaping to the big screen. Played once again by Jon Bernthal, the Punisher arrives in Spider-Man: Brand New Day following his appearances alongside Daredevil and the events of The Punisher: One Last Kill. Known for his ruthless methods, military precision, and unwavering belief that criminals deserve permanent punishment, Frank remains one of Marvel's most dangerous antiheroes.

In Brand New Day, Castle operates in the shadows of New York, targeting powerful criminal organizations and cleaning up the streets his own way. Early footage suggest he is heavily involved in the city's escalating chaos, armed with an expanded arsenal and his signature no-nonsense attitude. His role serves as a direct contrast to Spider-Man's moral code, creating friction whenever their paths cross. Yet as larger threats begin consuming New York, Frank evolves from adversary to uneasy ally, forcing both vigilantes to work together despite their radically different views on justice.

6. Scorpion

Ever since Spider-Man: Homecoming teased Mac Gargan's grudge against Spider-Man in its memorable post-credits scene, fans have been waiting to see the villain's full transformation into Scorpion. Nearly a decade later, that payoff finally arrives in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with Michael Mando returning to the role after first introducing the character in 2017. Years of imprisonment and resentment have only intensified Gargan's hatred for the web-slinger. Now armed with the iconic Scorpion suit, complete with enhanced strength, advanced armor, and a deadly mechanical tail, he emerges as one of the film's most formidable street-level threats.

While Doctor Strange's spell erased any knowledge of Spider-Man's true identity, Gargan's obsession with bringing down the masked hero remains stronger than ever. For longtime Marvel fans, Scorpion's arrival represents one of the MCU's longest-awaited villain payoffs. As New York spirals into chaos, Gargan becomes a relentless force hunting Spider-Man, creating the kind of comic-book showdown audiences have wanted to see since Homecoming first planted the seeds.

7. Tombstone

Another major villain stepping into Spider-Man: Brand New Day is Lonnie Lincoln, better known to comic fans as Tombstone. Making his live-action debut, the character is played by Marvin "Krondon" Jones III, who previously voiced Tombstone in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, creating a fun connection between two different Spider-Man worlds. Unlike the film's more flashy supervillains, Tombstone represents something far more grounded and dangerous: organized crime. A towering mob boss known for his immense strength, near-indestructible skin, and ruthless efficiency, Lincoln is operating at the peak of his power when Brand New Day begins.

With criminal influence spread across New York City, he sees Spider-Man as a direct threat to the empire he has worked to build. As the city's underworld grows increasingly unstable, Tombstone emerges as one of the key figures standing in Spider-Man's way. Rather than chasing world domination, he is focused on protecting his territory and expanding his influence, making him a perfect street-level adversary for a hero now facing New York's darkest corners largely on his own.

8. Damage Control

While Agents Cleary and Deaver remain the public faces of Damage Control, one of the most intriguing additions to Spider-Man: Brand New Day is Tramell Tillman. Fresh off his acclaimed performance in Severance, Tillman appears to be positioned at the very center of the agency's growing influence within the MCU. Officially credited as "Bill," the character is believed by many fans and industry insiders to be William Metzger, a powerful figure operating high within Damage Control's chain of command.

Unlike the agency's previous leadership, Bill appears to represent a more aggressive and militarized vision for Damage Control. As New York faces an escalating superhuman crisis, he reportedly oversees efforts to locate, monitor, and contain dangerous enhanced individuals. His actions place him at the heart of the film's conflict and could make him one of Spider-Man's most formidable non-superpowered opponents. More importantly, many fans believe his role extends beyond Brand New Day, potentially laying the foundation for Damage Control's future evolution as a major anti-metahuman force in the MCU.

9. Sadie Sink’s mystery character

No character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day has generated more speculation than the mystery role played by Sadie Sink. Ever since the Stranger Things star joined the cast, Marvel and Sony have gone to extraordinary lengths to keep her identity hidden, fueling months of fan theories. While the studio has yet to officially reveal who she is playing, one name continues to dominate the conversation: Jean Grey. Rumors, merchandise clues, trailer analysis, and online speculation have all pointed toward the iconic X-Men character, though Marvel remains characteristically silent.

Whoever she turns out to be, Sink's role appears far too important to be a simple supporting character. Early footage suggests she is closely tied to the film's mysterious unseen threat, a danger that seems to be manipulating events from the shadows while affecting multiple characters across New York. If the Jean Grey theories prove accurate, Brand New Day could mark the long-awaited introduction of one of Marvel's most powerful mutants into the MCU, potentially laying the groundwork for much bigger stories beyond Spider-Man's next adventure.

10. MJ’s love interest

One of the biggest wild cards in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the mysterious character played by Eman Esfandi. Best known for portraying Ezra Bridger in Ahsoka, Esfandi joins the Spider-Man franchise as MJ's new boyfriend, immediately placing him at the center of one of the film's most emotionally charged storylines. For Peter Parker, who sacrificed his relationship with MJ at the end of No Way Home, seeing her move on with someone else may be one of his toughest challenges yet.

But fans are convinced there is far more to this character than meets the eye. While Marvel has kept his identity under wraps, theories range from Harry Osborn making his long-awaited MCU debut to a secret villain such as Boomerang or Tarantula hiding behind a friendly college-student façade. Whatever the truth, his connection to MJ, Ned, and MIT appears to make him a major player in the story. If the rumors are accurate, he could be much more than a love interest, potentially becoming one of Spider-Man's most unexpected obstacles amongst the plethora of characters set for Brand New Day.
