Following the success of M3GAN and the underwhelming response to its sequel, the robot companion franchise returns with Soulm8te, which appears to be a darker and more unsettling take on the tech. The sci-fi horror thriller explores the dangerous consequences of a perfect AI companion and its unexpected obsession.

A spin-off of the original, the movie brings several acclaimed stars together. So, here is a closer look at the cast of Soulm8te and the characters they play in the sci-fi horror.

Lily Sullivan as Sara: Lilly Sullivan plays the role of Sara, who is an advanced companion android in the movie. The Australian actress has previously starred as Beth in Evil Dead Rise. Mental and Miranda, Monolith, Jungle, and I Met a Girl are some of her other films.

David Rysdahl as David: David Rysdahl plays the role of the character David in the movie, who is an engineer tasked with testing the advanced companion. Rysdahl is well known for his role as Arthur Sylvia in Alien: Earth. He also starred in Fargo and No Exit. 

Claudia Doumit: Claudia Doumit is also part of the cast of the film. However, the details of her character are not yet revealed. She has previously starred as Jiya Marri in the NBC series Timeless. She is also well known for her roles in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, The Boys, and Gen V.

Arty Froushan: Arty Froushan plays the role of the CEO in the movie, who tasked David with testing the AI Robot. Many might know Froushan from Daredevil: Born Again, where he played the role of Buck Cashman. He also appeared in Carnival Row and the 2025 film Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale.

While the film brings a talented cast together, what is the film Soulm8te about? 

Although set in the same universe as M3GAN, Soulm8te tells a standalone story with a darker and more psychological version. The film follows a grieving engineer who is assigned to test a new AI android created by a powerful technology company. However, the chaos begins when he attempts to modify the android to become a truly sentient soulmate.

And soon the robot develops emotions and desires of her own, leading to chaos. Soulm8te was initially planned for a theatrical release but was later removed from Universal's theatrical schedule. The sci-fi horror film will be available for purchase through premium digital rental beginning August 1, 2026, through Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.
