One of humanity's worst nightmares about artificial intelligence is back to haunt humans. Following the massive success of M3GAN, the universe of AI robot companions has continued to expand with the sequel, M3GAN 2.0, and the latest spin-off movie, Soulm8te. Produced by Jason Blum and James Wan, the film brings the same string of chaos, horror, and psychological tension as an attempt to create the perfect robotic companion spirals into disaster.

However, with the movie now facing a surprising release hiccup, here is everything to know about the cast, plot, and release date of the movie and where it will be available to watch.

Soulm8te follows a grieving widower and engineer struggling to cope with the loss of his wife. In the midst of his grief, his CEO assigns him a task to test the company's latest creation, which is an advanced artificially intelligent android. As he programs her to become the perfect soulmate capable of seeing, feeling, and loving, she begins to develop desires of her own. 

What makes things interesting is the robot's growing obsession with her owner. And soon this spirals out of control, leading to terrifying and chaotic events. And for those who enjoyed M3GAN, the new spinoff movie will have a few surprise Easter eggs from the original, as per the director, Kate Dolan.

Lily Sullivan as Sara: Lilly Sullivan is well known for playing Beth in Evil Dead Rise and Coral in the 2012 film Mental and Miranda. Monolith, Jungle, and I Met a Girl are some of her other films.

David Rysdahl as David: Rysdahl is an American actor and screenwriter. He previously starred in Alien: Earth, Fargo, and No Exit.

Claudia Doumit: She played the role of Jiya Marri in the NBC series Timeless. Doumit has also starred in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the famous series The Boys, and Gen V.

Arty Froushan: Froushan is well known for his roles in Daredevil: Born Again and Carnival Row.

While the movie has a refreshing story following a robot companion and a brilliant cast, it was shockingly removed from the theatrical release slate. And that raises questions about when fans can expect the movie and how to watch it. 

The M3Gan spin-off film, Soulm8te, was originally slated for a theatrical release. Later, it was removed from Universal's release calendar. Instead, the sci-fi horror film will debut on premium digital platforms. It will be available to rent from August 1, 2026, through Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

Although it might be disappointing, the movie is fortunately getting a home release rather than being slashed. And perhaps it will likely be able to get the success that escaped M3GAN 2.0. Much like the sequel, it may arrive on streaming platforms, too.
