Actor Scott Eastwood has spilled a new behind-the-scenes story from the set of Fury, revealing that Brad Pitt once stopped a near-fight between him and Shia LaBeouf. The movie is famous for its intense military-style training and the immersive production, and has long been associated with stories of the cast’s rigorous preparation. 

Eastwood has now recounted one of the production's most dramatic off-camera moments. He later explained how the heated confrontation unfolded on set. 

Scott Eastwood has opened up about working with Shia LaBeouf on Fury. He described it as a difficult experience due to his super-immersive acting style on the Armchair Expert podcast. Eastwood also recalled a tense on-set moment that nearly turned into a fight until Brad Pitt stepped in. 

“Brad Pitt sort of broke up a little tense moment,” Eastwood recalled, while crediting Brad Pitt with stepping in to diffuse the escalating confrontation. 

He further so said LaBeouf took it upon himself to prepare for the role, even going as far as knocking out one of his own teeth and injuring himself before shooting even started. Eastwood then admitted during the Armchair Expert podcast that he kept his distance at first after finding out LaBeouf's intense behavior on set. Eventually, things came to a head when LaBeouf confronted him for spitting chewing tobacco on a tank during filming, which led to the argument.

The tense encounter unfolded while the actors were filming Fury together.

Scott Eastwood starred opposite Brad Pitt, whose net worth is $400 million, in David Ayer’s 2014 World War II drama, Fury, as part of a U.S. Army tank crew in the closing months of the war. Pitt played the battle-hardened Sergeant Don “Wardaddy” Collier in the ensemble cast and Eastwood was cast as Sergeant Miles. Also starring Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña and Jon Bernthal, the film gained renown not just for its visceral battle sequences, but also for the cast's rigorous training and the deep immersion they experienced during shooting. 

Meanwhile, Eastwood’s newest story joins the long list of stories about the brutal shoot of Fury, during which the cast really pushed themselves to get into their characters’ skins. Although the run-in with LaBeouf never became physical, Eastwood’s story is a reminder of just how quickly things can escalate on a film set. It also depicts Pitt as the peacemaker who stepped in to de-escalate the situation before it got out of hand and to make sure filming continued despite the tense atmosphere backstage.
