Their Hollywood debut came at Elton John’s Oscars viewing party in March 2024, followed by a more openly public stretch that included the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

For a while, the couple let the relationship exist in that strange celebrity middle ground, visible but not completely explained. Then came the red carpets, the candid interviews, and eventually a wedding that was deliberately kept far removed from the spectacle.

The next major chapter arrived much more quietly. Sophia Bush revealed in her new memoir that she and Ashlyn Harris married in an intimate ceremony in upstate New York during the summer of 2025, with Harris’s children, Sloane and Ocean, present. In an exclusive interview with Vogue, Bush described a celebration built around family rather than performance, while Harris recalled the children running around, picking flowers, and roasting marshmallows after the ceremony.

The decision to keep the wedding private also fits the larger arc of their relationship. Bush explained that after years of having her personal life dissected publicly, there was something meaningful about allowing this moment to belong to them first.

Their timeline therefore runs from friendship to unexpected romance, through two difficult divorces and intense public scrutiny, before arriving at a wedding deliberately kept small and personal. Bush and Harris eventually chose to share the news on their own terms, with Bush now calling Harris her wife rather than her partner.
