The Tribeca Festival has long been a launchpad for intimate stories that linger long after the credits roll. From deeply personal coming-of-age dramas to boundary-pushing queer cinema, the festival has built a reputation for spotlighting voices that challenge convention. This year, one of its most intriguing entries is Something You Should Know About Me, a heartfelt and delightfully chaotic trans romantic comedy from writer-director Andy Fidoten.

Blending live action with animation and packing equal amounts of humor, longing, and artistic self-discovery, the film arrives as one of the most talked-about LGBTQIA+ titles on the Tribeca lineup. Before audiences step into Al's sketchbook-fueled world, here is everything to know about the film's story.

At the center of the film is Al, an insecure young cartoonist attending an artists' retreat while trying to find his place both creatively and personally. Surrounded by fearless underground queer artists whose work seems unfiltered and unapologetic, Al struggles with feelings he has kept buried for years. Things become even more complicated when Mason, a charismatic fellow cartoonist, begins flirting with Al's best friend, Jesse.

Suddenly, what began as a creative retreat transforms into an emotional battleground. Al finds himself navigating jealousy, artistic ambition, and unspoken love while wrestling with the fear of exposing both his true feelings and the more provocative side of his artwork. The film's distinctive animation sequences bring his fantasies and frustrations to life, creating a playful visual language that mirrors the chaos unfolding in his head.

The story may be packed with raunchy humor and romantic tension, but underneath it lies a tender exploration of identity, vulnerability, and the courage required to be seen. As much as the film revolves around Al's emotional journey, its ensemble cast helps bring that world to life.

Cast of Something You Should Know About Me

EJ Marcus as Al: Marcus leads the film as the aspiring cartoonist caught between friendship, love, and artistic self-expression.

Morgan Sullivan as Jesse: Sullivan plays Al's best friend and the object of his long-hidden feelings. The actor is also known for his work in Dead Ringers.

Sydney Mae Diaz as Mason Cash: Diaz portrays Al's charming rival, whose arrival complicates everything. Viewers may recognize Diaz from the series Generation

Yên Sen as Megan Watts: Sen plays one of the bold underground cartoonists whom Al admires.

Additional cast members include Sofia Dobrushin, Greta Kline, Aeon Andreas, and Julius Reese. Kline, better known through the indie music project Frankie Cosmos, also contributes to the film's musical identity. With its cast assembled, the film is now preparing for its first major audience showcase.
