Another incredible horror film is in the works from the legendary director behind Shutter. The 2004 hit explored horror alongside a deeply emotional story and a spirit that could be revealed through a camera’s shutter. The filmmaker is now set to return to helm yet another highly anticipated project that could become a big blockbuster.

And a major production company has already caught wind of it and jumped on board. The studio behind the Oscar-winning film Parasite has also joined the project as a producer.

Banjong Pisanthanakun, the filmmaker behind the iconic horror film Shutter, is returning with a new project titled Inherit. It is backed by Thailand’s renowned production house GDH 559, which is known for successful films like How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies. And South Korean entertainment company Barunson E&A, best known for producing Parasite, has also joined the project to handle international sales.

This is Pisanthanakun’s return to the director’s chair after nearly four years. Before this upcoming project, he helmed The Medium, which received massive praise. One of his biggest successes remains the popular horror-comedy Pee Mak, which became Thailand’s highest-grossing film of all time and the first Thai title to surpass ten million domestic admissions.

As for Inherit, it is based on the well-known horror novel Tayat Asun, published in 1991. The story carries immense potential. While it has previously been adapted for television, this will be its first big-screen adaptation.

And apart from its acclaimed director and powerhouse production houses, the film also boasts an important name, Davika Hoorne.

Who is Davika Hoorne?

Davika Hoorne has made a rather elegant habit of drifting between the living and the legendary, whether in Ngao Kammathep or the sly melancholy of Heart Attack and Suddenly Twenty. She is a well known actress, model, and influencer in the Thai entertainment industry.

More recently, she starred in the film A Useful Ghost, where she played a character who dies due to pollution and returns as a ghost, and a useful one at that! The film, with its peculiar mix of mischief and morbidity, has already collected its flowers, including the inaugural AMI Paris Grand Prize. After her memorable performance in Pee Mak, she is set to reunite with director Banjong Pisanthanakun for the upcoming horror project.

As more names continue to join the cast, the film is clearly set to be a promising project.
