With the tremendous success of The Adam Project, Ryan Reynolds
[http://netflixjunkie.com/tag/ryan-reynolds/] and Shawn Levy are coming up with
more exciting projects together. This Canadian duo works so well together that
they have become close friends as well. However, once, the Canadian director
opened up about the reason he cast Reynolds for the Netflix Original sci-fi
film, The Adam Project.

To make any movie a success, it is important to have the perfect cast along with
any other aspects of the film. Therefore, choosing the perfect actor to give
life to the character is important. Shawn Levy chose the Canadian actor to star
as the lead in The Adam Project. When the film hit theaters in 2022, the
director talked about why he chose Reynolds specifically. He chose the
Vancouver-born actor because he believed Reynolds was deft and nimble with the
tone.

Praising the 46-year-old actor, Levy said he was a comedic genius. Moreover,
Levy acknowledged his comedic genius was innate and not everyone had it.
Therefore, it made Reynolds different from others. While sharing his director’s
view, he revealed one could never direct a dramatic actor to be funny. However,
one can ask a funny actor to be dramatic. “You can’t teach them to hear the
music if they can not hear it,” said Levy.

While talking about the actor, Levy also revealed another quality he admires
about Reynolds.

SHAWN LEVY ADMIRES RYAN REYNOLDS FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL QUALITY

As an actor, one should have the skills to be flexible enough to justify the
character and the tone of the film. However, not every actor can get to the
depth of it. The Free Guy director talked about how Reynolds opened himself up
to the dramatic experience in the film. Because Levy knew the Red Notice actor
and his acting skills, it did not surprise him when Reynolds was being funny in
the film.

However, the way the father of four opened himself up during two of the most
dramatic scenes surprised the Canadian director. He revealed the scenes with Jen
Garner in the bar and one with Mark Ruffalo at the end. In these scenes, it was
not the Reynolds he expected. According to Levy, it was the authentic and raw
sides of the actor that he never allowed.

Because Levy knew the Deadpool actor and he trusted each other, Reynolds could
fully open himself up on the screen. It brought out an entirely different side
of the actor.

What do you think about the Canadian actor-director duo and Levy’s choice of
actor?
