It is absolutely criminal to ignore this Holy Grail of shark movies, especially during a week dedicated to the ferocious ocean predator. Steven Spielberg graced humanity with the absolute gift for Shark Week. With memorable performances, memorable one-liners, and amazing practical effects that still astound people today, Jaws has stood the test of time.

Without a doubt, this is the best shark movie ever made, but it also has a worthy sequel.

Jaws 2

It is only natural to want to see Jaws 2 after finishing Jaws. Roy Scheider reprises his role as Chief Brody in the sequel, which is well remembered for its tagline, "Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water." Although it is not as good as the original (mostly because Jeannot Szwarc directed this one instead of the legendary Steven Spielberg), it is still worth seeing.

Is 'Jaws' Movie Available on Netflix? Where to Stream The Horror Classic?

From franchise shark attacks, we should move towards a cult classic of the genre.

Deep Blue Sea

Deep Blue Sea has some of the most iconic fatalities in the history of horror movies and the best explanation of Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity. But Deep Blue Sea is more than just a few violent and gory sequences, and anybody who has not seen the film yet would be well advised to put it on their watch list.

The stuck in the water with a shark genre has never seen a more inventive approach than the next feature on the list.

The Shallows

For the majority of these movies, being stranded in the water with a vicious shark might seem like the worst nightmare come true. But The Shallows depicts the terrifying situation of being stranded on a little rock, unable to get into the ocean for fear of being attacked, and gradually dying from the heat. A slight adjustment to an already successful formula that pays off well.

It is time to take the size of the threat to a catastrophic level with the next addition on the list.

The Meg

The basic premise of The Meg is similar to any other shark movie, only the size of the threat is amplified to a terrifying level. The Meg is the most action-packed shark film on this list, starring Jason Statham, Bingbing Li, Rainn Wilson, and Ruby Rose, where a group of scientists go up against the prehistoric Megalodon. The ridiculous action/horror movie made over $530 million worldwide, making it a commercial triumph. There is also a sequel to this movie.

Shark Week is a great time to revisit the classic shark movies of all time, and the above recommendations will surely fit the bill with their impressive horror elements and ample gore. The appetite for shark movies is still pretty much rampant to the point that the news of a fake upcoming Jaws project was circulating as recently as a week ago. Anyhow, the above movies should be enough for a Shark Week craving.
