Robert De Niro, who has appeared in famous films like The Godfather Part II and Taxi Driver, hardly needs an introduction. From the theater to the big screen, the actor has one of the most successful careers in Hollywood, winning Oscars and numerous prestigious awards for his brilliant performances throughout his career. However, De Niro had a humble beginning, taking on supporting roles in films like Encounter and Three Rooms in Manhattan.

It was perhaps early in his career, before he became a major name in the industry, that De Niro lived in a small apartment in New York. Looking back on that time, the actor recently spoke about living in the apartment and remembered how much he paid for his first rent.

Robert De Niro recently appeared on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast for an interview. During the conversation, the host asked De Niro about the rent for his first apartment. The actor recalled living in a small apartment in New York that came at a jaw-droppingly low price.

"I think it was $75," he said.

"Irving Place," he said when asked about the location. "Walk up. One bedroom. It might have not even been a one bedroom. Might have been one room that you put a bed in there."

This was his first apartment as the actor recalled in the interview. Throughout his life, the actor has lived in several homes in New York. As he once said in an interview with Architectural Digest, he has traveled to different cities across the world, including Paris and Rome, but New York remained the most "exciting" place for him. No wonder he owns several properties in the city and reportedly stays at one of them whenever he is in town.

From time to time, the actor also looks back on his career and films, and he still has one wish.

During the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, the host praised Robert De Niro as one of the best actors in the industry and mentioned that he has been part of many impressive films throughout his career. She then asked whether the actor has ever watched his own films. While De Niro admitted that he has yet to watch them, he revealed that it is something he has wanted to do for a long time.

“No, but I’ve always been wanting to watch all the movies I did, from the latest one all the way down or the other way, the earliest ones,” he said. “Just go through them all.”

Robert De Niro has continued to work steadily in films and television and recently starred in The Whisper Man. However, the actor also wants to take some time to sit down and watch his own movies. Perhaps, after the hectic promotional activities for The Whisper Man, De Niro might finally get the chance to watch at least a few of them before he is called back into action again.
