Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are teaming up to bring a classic favorite, The Littlest Hobo, back to life. The duo most recently collaborated on Apple TV+'s The Studio, which went on to earn Golden Globe and SAG Award recognition, as well as a historic 13 Emmy wins. Now, they have set their sights on reviving a beloved canine character from the 1980s. 

And for the project, Point Grey Pictures, the production company run by Rogen and Goldberg, will join hands with Lionsgate Canada.

The Littlest Hobo was inspired by a film and a series featuring the canine character. The show that ran from 1979 to 1985 became one of Canada's most beloved television series. Now, it is set to receive a remake for Crave in Canada, with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg leading the project, as per The Hollywood Reporter.  

“The Littlest Hobo was a foundational show of our childhood. We are thrilled to have the honor of bringing it back for a new generation alongside our partners at Crave,” Rogen and Goldberg said in a statement.

Their comment further read, “And though the hobo may be little, we promise big things to come. That doesn’t mean the dog will be huge like Clifford. The hobo will still be little. But the adventures will be Big.”

Both the original film and the television series followed the adventures of a brave and intelligent dog. The new adaptation is also expected to focus on an ownerless yet brilliant German Shepherd who travels from town to town, helping people in need.

Details about the cast and release date are not revealed yet. As for remakes, this Canadian classic is not the only show getting a second life. Rogen, who is also working on The Studio season 2, is also involved in the revival of an animated show, Darkwing Duck.

New details about the production of the upcoming animated series have surfaced recently.

A reboot of the animated series Darkwing Duck has been in conversation for years. There was finally some hope for the reboot with Seth Rogen joining the upcoming Disney+ series as an executive producer. More recently, Jim Cummings, who was part of the original show, has shared some intriguing hints about the revival. 

Cummings voiced the titular character in the original series, which aired from 1991 to 1992. The show followed Drake Mallard, a simple suburban duck who is also a superhero. While details about the reboot are not revealed yet, the few clues that have emerged so far suggest the new series could be a promising return for the beloved character.
