The untitled project, which sold to Warner Bros., is said to be eyeing Bradley Cooper for the lead role. It’s being touted as a surprising tale of friendship, with production aiming to begin in mid-2027, though the real-life officer who inspired the story has not been named. 

Although the project is tied to one of the biggest events in recent U.S. history, sources have been quoted as saying the story is not about the January 6 attack. Instead, the film is expected to delve into the officer’s life and relationships before the Capitol events, with friendship and personal growth as central themes, Deadline reported. Penn has penned the screenplay and will also produce the film, while Bradley Cooper is in talks for the lead.

As a consequence of the invasion, the legislators had to leave the premises; the certification process was delayed and received worldwide criticism, and led to political repercussions.
