Anon Pls began as a buzzy debut novel from the anonymous Instagram gossip powerhouse DeuxMoi, co-written with Jessica Goodman, and quickly became a must-read for anyone obsessed with celebrity culture and blind items. It was the story of Cricket Lopez, an assistant who accidentally turns a small style account into a viral gossip machine.

It felt tailor-made for a TV adaptation, and fans were thrilled when a series was announced with major creative names attached. For a while, it looked like only a matter of time before Cricket’s world hit the screen.

But that now feels like a long-lost dream.

The Anon Pls adaptation quietly comes to an end

Screenwriter and actor Ryan O’Connell has officially confirmed that the planned adaptation of Anon Pls is no longer moving forward at Max. The project once carried significant momentum, fueled by its timely premise and the built-in audience that followed DeuxMoi’s real-world gossip empire.

“Oh, yes, but that’s over. It didn’t move forward,” During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, O’Connell addressed the project's cancellation directly.

When asked about his involvement and connection to DeuxMoi, he revealed that development had effectively stalled. His brief but clear statement that confirmed what many had suspected after years without progress. The show had been set up with a strong creative team, including Greg Berlanti’s production company and writers O’Connell and Diablo Cody.

That combination positioned it as a potential breakout series for the streaming landscape, blending Hollywood satire with social media culture. Its premise, centered on anonymity, influence, and ethical gray areas, felt especially relevant in a digital-first entertainment era. With the project now shelved, that story remains confined to the page, though the IP could still find new life elsewhere in the future.

While one high-profile adaptation fades into development limbo, another is accelerating toward the spotlight with firm momentum.

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow moves forward with confidence

In contrast, another major literary adaptation is gaining traction with a clear path to release. Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, based on Gabrielle Zevin’s bestselling novel, has secured a theatrical debut set for November 12, 2027. Paramount Pictures is positioning the film as a key holiday release, signaling strong confidence in its broad appeal.

The project is led by Siân Heder, whose work on CODA earned widespread acclaim and industry recognition. Taking on writing, directing, and producing duties, Heder brings a character-focused approach that aligns well with the novel’s emotional depth. This creative direction suggests the film will lean into nuanced storytelling rather than spectacle.

Daisy Edgar-Jones is attached to star as Sadie Green, one half of the central creative partnership. The story follows Sadie and Sam as they navigate decades of collaboration in the video game industry, exploring friendship, ambition, and personal conflict. Its layered narrative offers both intimate drama and a broader look at creative life in a digital world.
