Scream 7 prepares for new scripts and actors after Jenna Ortega leaves the project for her acclaimed

‘Scream 7’ Finds Itself in Hot Waters as Jenna Ortega Steps Away From Her Role Tara Carpenter for ‘Wednesday’

Before turning the attention of viewers with her deadpan teenager, Jenna Ortega
got the title of “Scream Queen.” Her performance in the iconic horror franchise
Scream brought her into the limelight of Hollywood. However, the young actress
recently announced her exit from their upcoming film Scream 7 due to a tight
production schedule for Wednesday season 2. The comedy horror drama tops on the
priority list of Netflix, and she has to head to Ireland in April to shoot the
second season.

After Ortega’s exit, all of it has collectively toiled the creators, who are now
facing creative difficulties.

THE EXIT OF JENNA ORTEGA FROM SCREAM 7 LEADS TO CREATIVE CHANGES

Variety rolled out reports regarding the future of Scream 7
[https://variety.com/2023/film/news/scream-7-eyes-neve-campbell-patrick-dempsey-to-return-1235805929/]
after Jenna Ortega stepped away from her role as Tara Carpenter. It revealed
that James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, who wrote the last two films for the
franchise, will work on new drafts. They might keep some set pieces and twists
but will have to find new protagonists. In fact, they have Neve Campbell and
Patrick Dempsey on their “wish list” to join the cast for the upcoming movie.

The project has lost two actors in one week, first Melissa Barrera, who played
Ortega’s sibling in the films, and now the 21-year-old. In a now-deleted post,
the director of the film expressed his frustration with these sudden changes.
However, the report noted that both actresses did not have new deals for the
seventh chapter. They signed for two films with the franchise and they fulfilled
it by starring in the previous ones.

Fans hoped that Scream 7 would be available in theaters by 2025, but with
creators starting from scratch, the release date might change. However, as for
Jenna Ortega’s hit show, Wednesday has been pacing up for the shooting of the
second season. In fact, this time the actress has bigger responsibilities
joining the production team.

THE EMMY-NOMINATED STAR WILL HELM PRODUCTION ON WEDNESDAY

Jenna Ortega has led the Netflix show Wednesday to success playing the teenage
daughter of the Addams family. But in season 2, she will take even more
ownership of the project. In June, the creators announced her role had been
elevated to executive producer. The X star also teased the plotlines of season 2
to Elle Fanning
[https://www.netflixjunkie.com/hollywood-news-after-her-infamous-take-charge-attitude-jenna-ortega-makes-a-major-statement-about-wednesday-season-two/]
in Variety’s Actors on Actors. According to her statement, the upcoming season
will not delve into the romantic life of the character, as fans expected.

The plotline remains unclear, but it will be darker and scarier for sure.
However, as of now, the creators are facing a crisis with the cast members after
one star left the shooting midway. A representative for MGM shared that Thorn
Burch, because of some personal matters, will not be returning to production.
But they did not clear if they would replace the actress or explain her
departure from the show. While Wednesday seems to be moving ahead, Scream 7 is
forced to face one setback after the another.
