Scott Bakula arrives at NBC's 'Carol Burnett: 90 Years Of Laughter + Love' Birthday Special held at AVALON Hollywood and Bardot on March 2, 2023 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, United States.

Give Scott Bakula a badge and a complicated case, and chances are the man will make it look effortless. As Special Agent Dwayne Cassius Pride, affectionately known as “King,” Bakula anchored NCIS: New Orleans for seven seasons with warmth, wit, and plenty of New Orleans spirit. Now, the actor is ready for another procedural, starring in and executive producing an untitled project.

From one beloved federal agent to another mystery, Bakula may be trading New Orleans charm for a fresh CBS case.

This time, Scott Bakula is heading somewhere completely different, as per Deadline. The untitled drama is a high-concept detective procedural set in Los Angeles, giving Bakula a new mystery-filled playground far removed from the familiar New Orleans setting. The actor will also executive produce the project, adding a behind-the-scenes role to his latest CBS venture.

Michael Sussman, who co-created Perception, is writing and executive producing the drama. The connection runs deeper, as Sussman previously worked with Bakula as a writer-producer on Star Trek: Enterprise. That reunion gives the project an intriguing creative link to another important chapter in Bakula’s television career.

The series also marks a significant move for Electric Entertainment, which is linked to the untitled project according to Deadline. Dean Devlin’s independent studio, known for The Librarians and Leverage, is venturing into broadcast television for the first time with the project. With its high-concept premise and experienced creative team, the untitled drama gives Bakula plenty of new territory to explore.

Then there is Star Trek: United, a much more ambitious possibility. Michael Sussman developed the pitch with Bakula around President Jonathan Archer’s future, imagining a gritty Federation-era political thriller with elements of The West Wing, Andor, and Homeland. The project remains in limbo, but the long-running Archer idea has given Bakula and Sussman another intriguing story to chase.
