Saturday Night Live has made some intriguing moves behind the camera. The late-night sketch comedy and variety show has been quietly undergoing several changes ahead of the premiere of its new season, Season 52. While some longtime cast members have departed the show, there have also been some exciting new additions.

Amid these changes, two of the most crucial members behind the camera have also been promoted. And this move could further strengthen the show as it heads into its new season.

Saturday Night Live is set for a new era as it promotes two longtime members of the show, Keri Powers and Rebecca Schwartz. Both have worked with the show for years and made immense contributions during their tenures. Now, the two will be taking on new roles as the series prepares for its upcoming season. 

Rebecca Schwartz, who has worked with the show since 2015, has been promoted to producer. Meanwhile, Powers has been promoted to the position of sole head of SNL’s talent department. From now on, she will oversee bookings for the show’s hosts, musical guests, and guest stars.

Powers, who previously worked at Paramount Pictures and CAA, has been with Saturday Night Live for more than a decade, having joined the show in 2014. And she has taken up the position following Brian Siedlecki’s exit. However, Siedlecki is not the only longtime member to have departed the show in recent months.

With several members of the show having left, who are the cast members returning for the new season of Saturday Night Live?

Kenan Thompson, Colin Jost, Michael Che, Mikey Day, Sarah Sherman, Ashley Padilla, James Austin Johnson, Marcello Hernández, Andrew Dismukes, and Jane Wickline will return for the new season. However, Chloe Fineman, who spent seven years with the show, left this year. Martin Herlihy and Bowen Yang, who have both been longtime members of the SNL cast, also left the show.

Padilla and Wickline are promoted to main cast members in the show. Alongside these returning familiar faces, there will also be some new additions to the cast. Grace Reiter, who is known for her performance in The Chair Company, has joined the show, along with filmmaker Saidah Belo-Osagie. With plenty of changes both on and off the screen, all eyes will be on the new lineup to see how these fresh faces and new roles shape the show’s next chapter.
