HBO's chaotic teen drama finally graduates into adult life crises as Euphoria finally returns after years of hiatus due to strikes and scheduling conflicts. The series now faces its critical juncture after sustaining immense cultural impact, generating disputes, and receiving critical praise for several years. Speaking with Deadline at the Euphoria premiere, Sam Levinson has revealed whether Season 3 will end the popular HBO show. Levinson has not received official confirmation from HBO, yet he has revealed that he considers the upcoming season to be his last work through his current season development approach. The showrunner said he has so far written every season as if it were the last to create a full, comprehensive storyline, citing the musical number ending for Season 1.

"Right now I am putting finishing touches on episode 7 and 8. So I keep the blinders on and stay focused on the work. And you know... I'll leave that on God's desk," Levinson told Deadline when asked about what his plans were for the future of Euphoria.

The cast members have also expressed their desire for the show to conclude. Alexa Demie, when asked by Variety whether she would be back for a Season 4, deflected her answer, saying she had not put much thought into it, as the decision lies with Levinson.

Meanwhile, Levinson's "God's desk" comment directly aligns with Rue actress Zendaya's declaration on The Drew Barrymore Show that the series will get a final closure after its third season. The actress, however, had previously opened up about her tight schedule while filming Euphoria 3, describing it as rather rushed as she juggled several high-profile projects such as The Odyssey, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Dune: Part Three. But the troubled Rue finally getting closure makes the upcoming episodes of the HBO hit even more exciting, whether it remains the final season or not.

Having faced a delay of four years, the upcoming third season of Euphoria will implement a clever storytelling technique using a time jump that allows characters to progress from their high school period into their adult lives. The new narrative explores dangerous situations and potential darker outcomes while depicting individual characters' development through their actual past decisions. Levinson intends to provide a complete, definitive, emotionally resonant conclusion rather than extending the narrative indefinitely.
