Friendships are rarely permanent, especially when they are formed young and lived out in the public eye. People grow, priorities shift, and sometimes silence replaces closeness without warning. For celebrities, though, even the quietest distance is magnified. The same has been true for Stranger Things star Sadie Sink and Sophie Levy, whose once-visible friendship has slowly disappeared, leaving fans to fill the gaps with speculation while both remain notably silent.

So what really happened between Sadie Sink and Sophie Levy?

Around three years ago, fans began noticing subtle but telling changes. Sophie Levy appeared to unfollow Sadie Sink on Instagram around 2021, a small digital move that quickly snowballed into widespread discussion online. From that point on, the two were no longer photographed together, stopped interacting publicly on social media, and were absent from each other’s circles. There was no announcement, no fallout aired publicly, just a gradual, unmistakable drift.

What made the distance more intriguing was how intertwined their lives once were. Sink and Levy were frequent companions, appearing together at events like the Free Guy premiere in 2021. Sophie Levy and her sister Tess Levy were often seen with Sink off-camera as well, at the beach, on set, and in casual group settings, until one day they were not.

What also made the situation difficult to understand is that despite the no contact, Sink has worked with Levy's father, Shawn Levy,, for Stranger Things. Ideally, that should mean that both Sophie's and Sink's paths would have crossed quite often, and yet, even traces of their friendship were not seen. And even till date, what went wrong is still not known. But before the silence, the friendship was easy to spot.

Sophie Levy, an actress herself, appeared in All Too Well: The Short Film, which starred Sadie Sink. And yet, what remains of that friendship now exists only as a quiet digital relic.

Sophie Levy’s last Instagram post with Sadie Sink

The last visible trace of their connection lives on Sophie Levy’s Instagram, in a video from All Too Well: The Short Film, released on November 12, 2021, alongside Taylor Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version) album. The short film starred Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien and was written and directed by Swift herself.

“12-year-old me is freaking out right now. 22-year-old me is too,”, Levy captioned the post. Notably, fans who comment on that post asking about Sadie Sink have reported their questions being deleted, further intensifying speculation. Sink, for her part, has never publicly addressed the friendship or the rumors surrounding it.

Despite the personal distance, Sink continued working professionally with Shawn Levy through the show’s final season. Sadie Sink has stacked major wins, snagging Spider-Man: Brand New Day, lining up Avengers: Secret Wars, and now claiming the West End. Ultimately, that is all there is: rumors, fragments, and silence. Perhaps they simply grew apart, as many friendships do, especially under the pressure of fame.
