For a few moments, Wimbledon looked less like Centre Court and more like the early 2000s. Just as rumors of an Ali G comeback continue swirling across Hollywood, Sacha Baron Cohen unexpectedly resurrected his most outrageous character at one of tennis’ most prestigious events. Safe to say, the final was no longer the only spectacle grabbing attention.
Instead of announcing Ali G’s return with a trailer, Sacha Baron Cohen simply let the character walk into one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events.

Sacha Baron Cohen made a surprise appearance at the Wimbledon men’s singles final on Sunday by arriving fully dressed as Ali G. Sitting in Section 215, the comedian wore the character’s signature white tracksuit, oversized gold chain, yellow sunglasses, and a jacket reading “Official Wimbledon G**** Dealer” across the back, while staying in character throughout the day. He later shared clips on Instagram in Ali G’s unmistakable style, further fueling reports that a new movie centered on the iconic character is quietly in development.

Ali G first burst onto television through The 11 O’Clock Show before becoming the face of Da Ali G Show, where Cohen famously fooled celebrities, politicians, and public figures into believing the clueless interviewer was completely genuine. The character later made the leap to the big screen with Ali G Indahouse and became one of Cohen’s defining creations alongside Borat and Brüno. More than two decades later, one unexpected Wimbledon appearance has suddenly made an Ali G comeback feel a lot less like a rumor. However, Ali G was not the only headline-making arrival at Wimbledon this year. Kate Middleton also attended several matches during the tournament, most recently appearing at Sunday’s men’s singles final with Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
While Ali G may have stolen the spotlight for a day, Sacha Baron Cohen’s 2026 comeback is proving far bigger than a single surprise appearance.

Beyond the Ali G buzz, Baron Cohen has already packed 2026 with major releases across streaming platforms. He starred opposite Rosamund Pike in Netflix’s gender-swap satire Ladies First, playing a self-absorbed womanizer forced to navigate a matriarchal world, before joining Mark Wahlberg, Larry David, and Paul Walter Hauser in Peter Farrelly’s action-comedy Balls Up, which premiered on Prime Video in April. Between the two projects, the comedian has spent the year bouncing between social satire and outrageous comedy without slowing down.

Yet the biggest headline may still be waiting. Reports claim Baron Cohen has already completed filming a brand-new Ali G movie across Oxfordshire and the United States, although the project remains without an official title or release date. Alongside that, he is also developing another original scripted comedy with Universal, making it increasingly clear that 2026 marks not just Ali G’s return, but Sacha Baron Cohen’s biggest comeback in years.
And if the movie rumors prove true, Wimbledon may have been only the beginning of Ali G’s next chapter.
