Ryan Reynolds reveals a new fun fact about Kenneth Branagh in a new promotional video. Not only is Ryan Reynolds a comedic powerhouse and Marvel Jesus, but he is also the marketing genius who turns a simple announcement or a straightforward trailer release into a comedy goldmine. These unconventional methods of promotion have led Deadpool to become one of the most successful franchises of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
They were on full display in new marketing material for his upcoming action-comedy flick with Kenneth Branagh.
Ryan Reynolds gives Kenneth Branagh a new title
Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh are coming together for the first time in their upcoming action-comedy venture, Apple TV’s Mayday. The marketing push for the film is at its height, and to make the best of the buzz around the movie, Reynolds has released a short clip of him with his British co-star on his social media handles.
In the video, both actors are trying to promote the film, but in the most authentic way. They decide to stay true to the movie’s timeline, which is set in the ‘80s, and share a special look at the film on an ’80s Mac. The only problem is that the Mac of that time had max memory of 512 KB and storage of 400KB, which means the special look needs to be shown through 50 individual discs that take a paper clip each time they want to insert a new one.
“Not only is he a master thespian who has performed the greatest works of the Bard, Kenneth Branagh is a certified Mac Genius Support specialist. Mayday on @AppleTV September 4,” was the caption of the clip.

This was to address Branagh’s skill and patience with the ancient Mac, which apparently was dreadful for Reynolds. What was also apparent in the video was the chemistry between the two leads, which is essential for a buddy comedy. And the comments on the video did not fail to highlight this.

As wild as the idea of this video was, the plot of the Apple TV film is wilder than anything fathomable.
Mayday has a wacky plot intermixing several genres
Mayday is a buddy comedy that entirely reimagines the spy thriller and is full of action. Hotshot US Navy pilot Lieutenant Troy "Assassin" Kelly (Ryan Reynolds) is sent on a top-secret mission inside Russian territory during the height of the Cold War. He is left stuck behind enemy lines after the operation fails.

The funny part is that he was rescued and cared for by a former KGB agent who, for some reason, adores America and everything about it. He even assists Kelly in leaving Russia, but it will undoubtedly be difficult, and that's where the true comedic thriller lies. The trailer has already been released, and the movie comes to Apple TV+ on September 4, 2026.
